Finally! The warm weather is here, school is out, and the summer fun has begun! Just be sure all that fun doesn’t take a toll on your skin by following these FOUR recommendations:
1. SPF
2. Home routine MUST-haves
3. How I can help
4. Be smudge free
ONE: Use SPF that does not contain hormone-disrupting ingredients like oxybenzone, avobenzone, octisalate, octocrylene, homosalate, and octinoxate. Currently, my favorite drugstore brand is Bare Republic. Additionally, you can search for “reef safe” sunscreen to help narrow your search. Yes, you will get more white cast with these mineral sunscreens but they are healthier for you and better for our ocean-living friends.
For day-to-day face protection, I carry a matte or a glowy mineral SPF from Sorrella Apothecary or at tinted sunscreen from Lira Clinical.
TWO: Be sure your home-care routine has a tyrosinase-inhibiting component. “Tyrosinase is a copper-containing enzyme present in plant and animal tissues that catalyzes the production of melanin and other pigments from tyrosine by oxidation, as in the blackening of a peeled or sliced potato exposed to air. It is found inside melanosomes which are synthesized in the skin melanocytes.” (Wikipedia).
My recommendations are:
– Sorella’s Lemon Lightening Serum ($66 – 3 to 5 month supply) for daytime and
-Sorella’s Facial in a Bottle ($80) for nighttime.
Available in studio or I can have them mailed directly to you.
THREE: Schedule regular brightening and clearing facials.
– The H20 Facial is on sale all summer long for$100. This is a quick 45-min facial to clear and replenish your skin so you can get back out there and have some summer fun. Perfect for cleaning out those clogged pores from summer sweat.
– The Blackberry Citrus Facial is now available for $95. This is a stimulating facial that combines an invigorating double exfoliation using rich fruit pulp and papaya enzymes. This is followed with a deep boost of hydration with a peach, honey, and gauze mask. Your skin will then be treated with a pressure point massage and fed with an intense boost of antioxidants and Vitamin C. You’ll leave with skin refreshed and glowing for the summer months. Recommended once a month from June to September.
FOUR: Stop worrying about smudgy brows and mascara and instead invest in microblading, nanobrows, lash extensions, or lash lifts. Even just a lash tint can make all the difference for those of us with light colored lashes.
Four Cheers for Summer!
